I have gotten so many questions on Instagram about different homeschooling manipulatives and supplies that we use. I did a little tour of these items and added it to my PLAYROOM highlight, but I figured it would be nice to add all of these items with links into one blog post. So here we are!
WHY MANIPULATIVES?
For our family, manipulatives and hands-on materials are a huge part of our schooling experience. My kids are hands-on learners so we like to have various things on hand that we can use over and over again. We do bookwork too, but that can get old and it’s fun to bring in manipulatives and learning tools. My kids really thrive learning this way! Some of these things are an investment- and some of them are very affordable. And some items you may even have laying around the house, like popsicle sticks and clothespins. You don’t by any means need ALL of these to homeschool effectively. I have been building a collection of these tools over the last 5 years and we have slowly accumulated these things over time.
Some of these items are things we use in conjunction with our curriculum- like counters, flashcards, etc. and some of these are just good learning activities on their own! Another reason I like having these is because kids need brain breaks in between subjects and if I’m needing to help one child independently, I can give the other child one of these activities to use while they wait.
I will also have a post on curriculum coming soon- so stay tuned for that!

Some of my other favorites that aren’t pictured are basic items that you probably already have lying around the house like clothespins, popsicle sticks, color coded stickers, etc. These are dirt cheap and can be used for so many different things!
