Hello and Happy Monday!
I’ve had a lot of questions about the sale that Air Doctor is currently running, so I thought I would write up a blog post with some more info on our experience with Air Doctor + some tips for improving the air quality in your home/why it’s so important!
When I first started my holistic journey, I didn’t really understand how air quality could have such an impact on our health. Now that I know, it’s one of the first things that I recommend people focus on because it truly can make a big and positive impact on your family’s health.
Whenever I am talking about exposure to toxins, one thing I always want to mention is something that I call your ‘toxic load’. Imagine you have a bucket and every time you are exposed to toxins (can be through eating, putting them on your skin, injecting them, breathing them in, etc.) it fills up your bucket a little more and your toxic load gets a little heavier. I also like to mention something I call ‘frequency of exposure’. Frequency of exposure is simple how often you’re exposed. Here’s an example of this: drinking a soda every day is really going to fill up your bucket and impact your health pretty negatively. But having a soda once a year? That’s probably not going to be that big of a deal or impact your health too much. The exposures that are frequent and really fill up your bucket are the ones I recommend focusing on first. And air quality is definitely one of those.
We breathe in air 24.7. It’s not something we can avoid, as we obviously need air to live. If we are constantly breathing in toxic air, that is really going to fill up our bucket and increase our toxic burden. Making swaps and changes to improve the quality of the air we breathe in is one swap that will make a huge impact.
The air quality in the average American home is 10x more polluted indoors than right outside in the backyard. The EPA has ranked air pollution as one of the top 5 environmental dangers. The air we breathe can affect our health in so many different ways, so breathing clean air is important. Things that can contaminate the indoor air we breathe include: VOCs, dust, pet dander, mold, smoke, bacteria, viruses, pesticides, and more. Synthetic cleaning and laundry products also contribute to indoor air pollution so I recommend swapping those- we will talk more about that in coming months. Poor indoor air quality can contribute to allergies, reactive airway, respiratory distress, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, lowered immune system function, and more.

Now let’s talk about the Air Doctor! Keep reading and at the end, I’ll talk about some ways to improve your air quality FOR FREE.
Air Doctors are an investment but they are absolutely worth every penny in my opinion. We’ve bought some air purifiers off amazon and they just do not even compare.
Why I love our Air Doctors:
+ their filters remove airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns- 100 times smaller than the HEPA standard
+ they capture human hair, pollen, dust, mold, pet dander, smoke particles, bacteria, and viruses
+ their filters use a 3 stage filtration
+ the filters:
1. UltraHEPA® Filter: designed to capture ultra-fine, airborne contaminants like pollen, mold spores, smoke and dander, bacteria and viruses
2. Carbon/Gas Trap/VOC Filter reduces toxic ozone, gases, odors, and VOCs from cooking, cleaners, furniture, carpet, paint, and more
3. Pre-Filter: designed to capture larger contaminants like dust and animal hair
+ you can run them all day and night
+ they’re easy to move from room to room
+ they different sizes for different budgets/different room sizes
+ their 3,500 HEPA filter is independently tested and proven to remove at least 99.99% of particles as small as 0.003 microns- that’s 100 times smaller than the HEPA standard
We have 2 of the 3,500s and 1 of the 2,000s. We keep a 3,500 in our main living area where the kitchen and living room are, one in our playroom/loft space, and we move the 2,000 around in the bedrooms.
Here are all the details on the sale and recommendations on what units to get for different room sizes!

5 Ways to Improve your Home’s Air Quality For Free
Now let’s chat about what else you can do! I also want to remind you that it’s okay if you cannot afford a big, fancy air purifier yet. Are they worth their weight in gold? Absolutely, 100%. But I also don’t recommend going into debt for one. If you can’t budget for it yet, focus on the things you can do for free and save up for one! They usually have a sale for Black Friday, in the Spring, and in the Summer. But I cannot stress this enough- it is absolutely not necessary or smart to go into debt for this lifestyle!

1. Open your windows.
Not only is this absolutely free, but it’s something you can do everyday. When the weather is nice out, open the windows for a few hours. This can help clear out indoor air pollutants and neutralize smells. Plus, it is so good for us to breathe in fresh air.
2. Replace your home air filters every 3-6 months.
The majority of people often forget to replace their home air filters and that leaves them breathing in a lot of things they shouldn’t be. These filters collect all kinds of dust, dander, spores, hair, and particles and if you don’t change them, it can definitely negatively impact your health. Pro tip: Set a reminder on your calendar to replace your filters every 3 months and buy them in bulk so you already have them on hand.
3. Leave your shoes at the door.
This is such a huge way that you can limit your exposure to toxins. Everytime you walk indoors with your shoes on, it tracks in so much bacteria & dirt on your shoes, which then sticks to your floor. I’m not a germophobe by any means and I’m a firm believer in grounding. But let’s leave the dirt outside! And honestly, it’s not the dirt I am worried about. It’s all the other stuff. Not wearing shoes in the house can make a big impact.
4. Vacuum often.
Along with leaving your shoes at the door, don’t forget to vacuum! Especially if you have carpet, a lot of bacteria and toxins can be tracked in and embedded into the fibers of your carpet. If you want to take it a step further, invest in a HEPA vacuum. I don’t have a HEPA vacuum, but I found a vacuum that picks up dirt better than any other vacuum I’ve ever used. I use THIS vacuum.
5. Avoid using any products in your home that contain harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrance.
This alone will make the air in your home much cleaner and less polluted than a lot of other homes in America.
